In the Lindamood Auditory Conceptualization Test, the student manipulates wooden blocks of various colors to indicate his conceptualization of speech sound patterns delivered by the examiner.

This method enables the subject to show number and sameness and difference of sounds, and to visually represent changes in spoken patterns, without the additional problem of having to associate letter symbols with the sounds.
